Polyester lifting slings

Safety is the primary requirement when moving loads. There are many rules that must be followed when the objective is to move materials, especially those with large dimensions. Polyester lifting slings are the right choice, as they are manufactured in this material with excellent mechanical resistance to chemicals, abrasion and low flame propagation.

TYPES AND CLASSIFICATION OF POLYESTER LIFTING SLINGS

For each type of load, there is a specific model of polyester lifting sling. This is necessary because loads have different dimensions and geometries, as well as various means of being moved. The traditional models of polyester lifting slings are:

  • Band;
  • Leg;
  • Pipe;
  • Ring;
  • Sling;
  • Steel;
  • Round tubular sling.

Models of polyester lifting slings must comply with standard NBR 15.637-1, which, among all manufacturing specifications, also defines the classification method, which relates to the safety factor of the sling and can be divided into:

  • 5:1 sling — indicates that the piece offers a safety factor of up to five times its load capacity. Its colour must always be white;
  • 7:1 sling — indicates that the piece offers a safety factor of up to seven times its load capacity. It can be made in various colours, each representing the capacity supported in the vertical position. Above ten tonnes, the colour orange is used to identify polyester lifting slings.

The identification of slings is also one of the items set out in NBR 15.637-1. If produced 100% in polyester, the information is available on a blue label. Other label colours indicate manufacture in other materials.
